Howard's going to kill me
« on: April 26, 2004, 08:43:05 pm »
Thanks to howards helpful guide I got the newest version of dk installed and working no problem. Even the new skinner works fairly well. Howerver I have a couple of issues that maybe you guys can help me solve.

1. How do I get a background mp3 to play and repeat while surfing my games?

2. I saw on the Demoncade skin he was somehow able to animate between snaps and titles. I tried using the skinner and reverse engineering the process, but had no luck. How do I need to set it up.

3. I have some small mpegs of gameplay video. I placed them in a folder called snap (not related at all to where snaps are in question 2). Using the skinner I told it to allow video and set the path and location correctly on my screen, but I'm not getting any video. Any ideas.

To howard's credit he promptly emailed me back with some suggestions. Man do you ever sleep? I'm just not smart enough to figure it out, because his suggestions didn't work.

If you guys can help me out great. My cab is done. and I'm ready to post pics once I get my fe going.

Thanks again

Ok read your docs first off.... but since you been extremely polite I'll answer specifically just this once.

(For the record I have a slight sleeping disorder, so no I pretty much don't sleep. ;) )

1.  Name it background.mp3.... put it in the folder of the theme you are using.  As of the last build, there are a few glitches with this feature, so ignore them.

2.  Togglesnap has to be turned on in the frontend.ini... your title images need to be in a folder named "titles"  consult your documentation for the names folders need to be.

3.  Place them in a folder called "vids" in the same root folder as the "snap" folder (i.e c:\mame\snap and c:\mame\vids)  Using the skinner turn on previews for the snap element.  Again, consult your documentation... it's all in there.

1.I actually had the mp3 working but my background.m3u list won't play. Is this one of the bugs you were talking about?

2. still working on the titles. (late) Ideally I want to toggle from titles to screenshot I'm looking for it in the documentation. I

3. Videos play perfectly (just have to remove the sound)

Thanks for the help.

I did read the docs, even printed them out, but I must have missed it in the skin section and extra section.

Thanks again howard.
