Reseize Sreen / ArcadeVGA --> Scart

I am running my ArcadeVGA via my selfmade VGA ---> Scart cable on a Grundig TV, and it runs flawless ..... except for
the Screensize. The Screen is too large in width and height for my TV-Set. I cant find a solution for adjusting the graphicscard signal. The Boxes for Screenadjustment in the driver tab are greyed out (i am using xp, the same in Win 98 SE).
Someone told me to open the TV-Set and adjust the screensize there ... but i am not willing to do that (lack of experience).
Advancemame didnt help either, i couldnt fit the whole picture on my TV.

The preset mode timings in the ArcadeVGA are not right for every monitor/TV. You will need to use somehting like AdvanceMAME. It comes with the advcfg utility that allows you to fit the picture to the screen and store the setting. Effectivily this will overrule the presets in the ArcadeVGA BIOS.

I've heard that alot of TV's have a hidden factory menu where you can adjust size and shape of the display, its activated by pressing certain combinations of buttons on the controller, can anyone confirm this.

That is correct, it can be difficult to find out how to access the service mode tho, since it is meant for service engineers only.  Try a Google search for 'grundig service mode' and include the TV model no...

My TV is a Grunding CUC 3400 . No the newest one though.
I think there is no service menu available, it doesnt have an OSD.

But I managed to configure AdvanceMame with a good result.
Concerning picturequality i really can recommend using an ArcadeVGA and the selfmade VGA-SCART-Cable with a TV - Set.

TVs are designed to overscan, a portion of the picture goes off the top/sides. So the picture size will nearly always need to be adjusted. Many TVs have enough adjustment in the user controls on the remote menus to do this (like my Toshiba), but some  you do need to go into service mode to get a wider adjustment range as someone mentioned.
The picture size adjustments in the Windows driver are greyed out for good reason: we are using a fixed frequency monitor so we can't change the picture size. It has to be done on the monitor.

I've not actually connected my TV to my AVGA yet,so don't know if I'll have any probs, but it's a Panasonic model (will check model no later).  Anyone know of where to look for Panasonic service modes?  I've got this link: http://www.calanan.com/panasonic/ but just wondering if there is anywhere else as I'm fairly sure my model isn't on the list. 

Just thought I'd look into it in case I have any probs with sync etc
