Anyone try making a portable NES?
« on: April 17, 2004, 05:56:51 pm »
For a beginer such as myself, I've decided to try and start building my portable NES, using the instructions I've seen on someone elses page.  So far I've gotten as far as removing the RF Power portion of the board in the upper right corner, where the DC connector is plugged in..

For anyone who's managed to complete one, how long does this little project take to finish?  At the very least, maby I can turn my bendable NES into a Toploader using that new PCB Edge connector I found for $2's :)..

I saw a website displaying a really nice handheld NES probably about a year and a half ago.  He also was working on a portable n64 at the time.  Unfortunately, I do not remember the link, but I just wanted to let you know that these things are out there.

I think it would be pretty time consuming to make a nice one of these, but I highly doubt it would take more time than making an arcade cab.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck.

If you have a GBA, this might be an easy way.

There is an hk portable called the Game-Axe that plays nes games, but it's supposedly pretty fragile. Your best bet is NES emulation on GBA, works like a charm and no big clunky nes carts.
