Mounting with 2 2x4's
« on: April 17, 2004, 12:55:19 pm »
Do you guys think using 2 2x4 to mount my D9200 will be sufficent? The 2x4 will be screwed through the side of the arcade with 2 12 x 1 1/2 flat philips head screws. This will be covered with laminate afterwards.

Actually you should attach the 2x4 with a couple of carriage bolts thru them. That will ensure the 2x4 will stay attached to the cabinet.

Remember that when a game gets moved the weight of the monitor will be on that 2x4 so it must be secure.

I would prefer not to have carriage bolt sticking out on the side. Is there any other way I could use the 2x4 with additional support? I could add additional 2x4 supports on the metal monitor frame.

I assume you are using 2x4 to go across the cab, to attached the monitor with 6 bolts (3 top, 3 bottom).  I used "L" brackets (literally look like an L) to attach my 2x4's, for D9200 mounting.  2 to each side, on on top, one on bottom of the 2x4. But, I wouldn't rely on just 2 2x4's, I also built a shelf that most of the weight of the monitor rests on.

Thanks, bdsjake

I have a shelf incorporated into the cabinet. So I hope using the 2 2x4 and the monitor shelf will be sufficent. Is there any instability in your setup?

no instability, its rock solid with combination of shelf and 2 2x4's.

now, with weight of monitor up that high if you try to move it you will find it top heavy, so be sure to get help moving!
