GLauncher, ARRRGH

okay - asked on AGM to no avail yet, so i thought i'd post here...

Why the heck does Glaunch stop and actually say "pause" at the command line, both before playing and after exiting a game???  I cannot find a pause command, a P for MAME, or its associated ascii scancode anywhere in the program's cfg files and whatnot!

And a sound problem.... the game sounds are all barely audible while GL's sound itself is fine.
WTF?

Side note:  I logged into the site with my username, but when i went to post a new topic, it changed back to Guest and gave me an error when i used my regular handle - saying another user already had that name.  just FYI to whom it may concern.

first thing todo is check that your audio is not turned down in mame, press the key just above the tab key and this will bring up the sound volume, make sure that it is turned up.

Hope it helps :)
