Williams Mame Cab
« on: April 12, 2004, 11:16:32 am »
I have just started on my Williams Mame Cab. I picked up a working Shinobi cab from a local guy.  The cab is messy but structurely sound. Someone hacked up the wiring inside so nothing worked except the game and they installed a doorbell for insert coin. I have just started cleanind it up and patching holes. Heres a pic

The black laminate was peeling on the side so I took it off to reveal an old joust cab!

I finshed spray painting the cab a nice glossy black. I sure wish I had a house to do this in. I took it out on the porch to paint it everyday and then I would have to haul it back inside each night. I thinking of going with a red/black theme. Anyone have experience with red t-molding on a black cab? Should I go with red buttons and joysticks or would it look crappy? I would appreciate any feedback ya'll can give me!! ;D So many people come up with ideas that one would never think of.

Did you sand the sides before you painted it?

I'm more concerned that he didn't prime them.

I filled in the holes and major dents and did some light sanding. I also put some primer on it. It was hard to do too much more in my apartment (the wife wasn't eager for me to make a mess) and I was just sooooo eager to get started. When the cab is inside you really don't see all the little imperfections. Hopefully some nice side art will cover it up. I've been thinking about adding rotary joysticks to play games like time soldiers. How do they play? I also like fighting games so I am concerned how they will feel.

Yep, that's the color I'm using on my cab.  I think Red on Black looks cool.  ;D

I am most concerned that he took off the laminate to reveal good joust sideart, and then promptly painted it black with a spraycan.  :'(

Man, I thought Mel Gibson's movie was the only place where someone got crucified.  :'(Ya'll are giving me a real hard time. I would have liked to save the joust art but the paint was cracking and it didn't look good. It needs to be repainted. I thought I could always get either the vinyl sideart or the stencils and reapply the art down the road. I am interested in what ya'll think.

Here's a pic of my black/red MAME cab.  I kinda like how the red buttons & joys look on it.

For some reason I can't log on at home. Everytime I try it says error ID not found. The weird thing is that I can log on and off with this ID but not with Chemixtry

Thanks for the examples Oscar and nighthawk2099. I wanted to know hot it looks before I go crazy and order the buttons and joysticks.

I'm still trying to come up with a theme. I like Coops devil girl art and I would like to incorparate them. Devil's Playground? Too ominus? Arcade Inferno? Too Disco?
