Ages and ages ago you asked me to help you make a software solution for interfacing halleffect and rotary joysticks.  At the time I couldn't do it because I didn't have a clue how to sendkeys to an application using directinput.

I've finally come up with something that should work...
(mame seems to respond to the keypresses)

Contact me for more info.

I posted the news publically in case anyone else is interested in the technology.

Btw this probably means a much needed upgrade to my keypress simulatior.

Since then... Analog+ mame has added it...  (well, 1/2 of the games that is... ikari still has a bug in it... last I checked).

So its probably not worth it anymore.

Druins board (and the old (sigh) MK64) sent L's and R's with a time pressed to work with mames bad hack for the controls/.
mouse connection.
mouse -> original 12 way connections...

keyboard...
keyboard -> mouse -> original 12 way...

so the time you hold down "L" and "R" is how far it moves.  So you have to get your timing right.

Now, with analog+ it is
keyboard (12 seperate connections) -> original 12 connectors
or
Keyboard ("L" and "R") -> original 12 connectors.

so you turn it as fast as you can... and it keeps up.

its AMAZING the difference.  makes the games fun again.  I HOPE druins boards can be configed to completely reduce the time per click... I don't know this (don't have one).

The solution I was trying to talk you into... well... would work with analog+ only... Be as good as whats in there (well.. better really)..

it would take 3 inputs (from the 12) and would send the "L" and "R".  This would fix the current ikari problems (but that should probably be fixed at some point)...

So why would it be better?  If it was just as fast... It would allow you to run XBots along with all the original 12 way games.

And it would only require 3 connections (or 4... might be safer for loosing clicks).  Thats a good thing... but having a MK64... I have plenty to spare.

So if you are still interested... I can send you a mock up of what it should do...  But I bet you can figure it out as good as I can...
