Mistsubishi Picture Tube...
« on: April 09, 2004, 08:18:44 pm »
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can help with more info on this picture tube that was in the cabinet I bought. It works fine with it's original game, but was wondering how they compare with Wells Gardener for making a mame cab ie. refresh rates etc... There are heaps of numbers on the sticker on the tube, but the model number (i think) is LR42053.

It gave me the heebie-jeebies just looking in there (voltage!) - it's been off for a while though, how long can these puppies hold a charge?

You have a Nanao monitor. I feel sorry for you.

The number starting with "A" is the picture tube number. Mitsubishi made the picture tube only not the monitor. Nanao monitors are typically found in Sega machines and typical model numbers start with "MS7-", "MS8-", etc.

The problem with Nanao is very poor factory soldering of the boards and lack of factory support. Service manuals are difficult to find and expensive. Some (but not all) manuals can be obtained from Sega dealers as Sega used alot of Nanao monitors in their machines.

I've found Nanao monitors don't sync to some games and their video input connector is different than other monitor manufacturers. They also use "proprietary" soldered-in sub circuit boards for video preamp, horizontal oscillator, and vertical oscillator. If one of those goes bad try finding a replacement!
