Trouble Getting into ADVCFG
« on: April 06, 2004, 11:37:28 pm »
Having trouble setting up my cabinet.
I have a JPAC, ATI Radeon 7500, AMD XP1800, with a WG 19K7901.

I tried using the Fraggals Boot CD, but have had no luck. System starts but only the main ArcadeOS selection screen is readable (the title screen, bios screen, etc is all scrambled, even if I try to adjust the monitors settings manually. I got all this to work on my other cab with a G07 monitor.)  In Dos I can see the prompt screen but when I go into edit, screen is scrambled.

Been going back between PC Monitor and Cab (editing things in Autoexec/Config) but no luck. Still can't get ADVCFG to run so I can see it and set up modes.

Does anyone have a set-up like me and could share their autoexec/config.  Also what am I doing wrong since I can't get into the config screen in Advance Mame. (Tried to follow the instruction in Purple Mame web page but no luck).

Thanks in advance for any help.

The first thing you need to get going is ADVCAB's video.exe  ...  This will sync up the arcade monitor so you can see what your doing within DOS.  If you have a floppy drive, create a bootdisk with an autoexec.bat that will go into the advcab directory.  I think there is a batch file in there (advvideo.bat?) that runs advcfg -advvideo video.rc   Once you have this setup you can setup your hard disks config.sys to be able to see what you are doing for booting.

AFter you get that done, you can then do advmenu.rc  First create advmenu.rc by runinng advmenuc.bat and then run advmenuv.bat and follow through.
Do the same for advmamec.bat and advmamev.bat

Sorry, its been a long time.

Thanks for the help,

I'm now able to see the screens and have been able to configure Advancemame.

Much appreciated
