Asteroids-Multi control panel suggestions
« on: March 31, 2004, 01:32:31 pm »
I am in the process of creating a multi-game from an Asteroids Theme control panel.  I have a rough picture on what I was thinking.  I have to adjust the graphics put this gives a rough idea.  I would like to keep the buttons where they are for the Asteroids controls but would also like to add buttons for Defender and Joust.  I kinda went off the Multi-Williams.

The CPO is a little bit smaller than the actual control panel itself so I have a little play room.  The CPO is roughly 19 1/8 (19.125) x 9 13/16 (9.8125).  I am worried that with the current layout that the lower buttons will be in the way of the Asteroids left and right buttons.

I guess what I am looking for is any suggestions or other ideas that anyone else might have.  I am really in the design and planning stages and any feedback would be great.  ;D

I used the Asteroids vector art to create this.

Here's how it's going to look with joysticks.  I'm using this panel for my dual joystick panel.  I have another design for my 4 player panel and my dual steering wheel panel.

I don't think the lower buttons will create issues with the asteroids buttons. I would suggest reusing the asteroids buttons where possible however. (rather than adding buttons for  joust, etc)

Ok this is version 1.  I suck at Illustrator so bear with me  ::).

I made the CPO a little larger but then I offset the original holes for the control panel.  I will need to work on that, so what I have here is a rough idea.  I also didnt know how to do the lettering with the same font type so there are duplicates but it gives the right idea.

What do you guys thinK?  ??? (any Illustrator tips would be great also).

I can email you the font I used.  It was as close to the original cp I could find.
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.

That would be great Nannuu!  ;D

Oh and GGKoul, thanks for the tip.  I was wondering about that.
