Video quality
« on: March 31, 2004, 01:11:42 pm »
I just installed the TV in my cabinet last night.  The TV I bought for 169 dollars is a 25 inch that fits perfectlyinto the cabinet.  It ONLY has Composite video feed.
www.gamersanon.com/arcade.html  for pictures of it

Is it worth me taking it all apart, taking that TV out, going back to the store, and searching hard to find a comprable tv withS-Video?  I mean in your honest opinion am I going to see that much of a difference playing arcade games?  What about playing pacman, versus Final fight, versus n64 games versus Neogeo games?  Talking with my friend I assume the color blending will be worse in Composite and better with S-Video because of the way colors are seperated on S-Video.

If you can tell me that it is worth it for me to remove it I will.

The 2x4's holding the TV in place are with 3 inch heavy duty screws with wood glue.  It will be Very difficult to remove them, but I can.

You may want to head over to the Video/Monitor forum and check out some stuff there before you make your final decision.  I personally don't know how much difference there would be on arcade systems between composite and S-Vid.  I would think the faster the action, the more color bleed you would expect to see.  I could be wrong though considering I haven't even got a cabinet yet.  :-\  I don't think anyone is going to tell you to tear apart your cabinet to replace the TV.  That will have to be your decision, but I'm sure you'll get plenty of feedback on the performance between composite and S-Vid.  The question is, will you be happy with S-Vid or want to move on to component.  Oh... the torture!

I am such a deuschrocket, everytime I think I lookat the boards for a specific one, and don't see it I post in the main forum.

If someone can, move this to the monitor/video board.

Thanks kindly and sorry.
