MAME Covers
« on: March 31, 2004, 05:02:24 am »
I started a project called Project MAME Covers to give back to the MAME community as I am unable to program for toffee nuts!

So, I forensically restored artwork available to me and created DVD covers, CD Labels and Jewel Case back and fronts.

You can download them from here: http://mamecovers.mameworld.net

Enjoy!

Nice!

You might also want to check http://www.retrocovers.com

I had another artwork site bookmarked, but I must have lost it.

Looks Good!

Is there any way you can post some Mame Covers without version # on them?

As I don't have v.80 but I still want too print the covers.

Thanks!

Great job on the covers!

Time to dress up my bland MAME CD case. I have at least 7 or 8 MAME versions/full ROM sets from 0.60...

X
Thanks,

I can do that, but to be honest my advice is to bring your MAME roms up to date (version 0.80) and use the latest version of MAME.

Since 0.79 there have been huge major core changes that have simply made MAME so much more flexible/powerful as a direct result that bugs that have sat in it for years have finally been solved or are in the process of being fixed. Lots of roms have now been changed to accomodate the new core changes.

Use a ROM tool like Romcenter or clrMAMEpro to verify your sets and get them up to date.

I have v.79 right now. And I usually wait for a few releases to come out before I upgrade. So I can get them as a group.

Having a "non-version" would be great for those people who just don't want to upgrade.  Then they can leave it blank or add the version they have.

Just an idea.  As I would l like to modify the Simpsons set with 0.79.

Uh-huh.  And what does one do when .81 comes out?

Once you have a set of 0.80 roms you can use my labels and covers to archive them all.

Its up to you if you wish to continue updating your roms sets from there on.

But my labels will be updated every release of MAME.

Download them before they are gone and updated to 0.81. NEW version approaches.

Any update on having blank covers?  By blank I mean no version # on them?

I may actually do that. That sounds a good idea. For two reasons, some like to back up intermediate releases ie u1,u2 u3 etc etc and secondly for older versions. It's unfortunate that I didnt find this board soon enough as I have been doing these covers since 0.76.

If you wish to ask around MAMEWORLD's forum (http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?Cat=) maybe in the MAME CHAT Forum and see if anyone has version 0.79 still.

In the mean time, I'll see what I can do about the blank versions. But I do have work to do this week which I need to get out. I may have time over the weekend perhaps not. I'll have to see.

Illustrator files would be awesome, then you wouldn't have to wory about updating, we could just edit in whatever we want!
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I think these covers are awesome!

I would also be interested in 'no version' covers.

Or, I would be interested in v.82 covers if they have been updated, as this is the set I currently have.

Thanks,

Mark.

Currently I am unable to update the covers until my broadband is switched back on after moving to a new house.

It takes 10-20 days! By then 0.83 maybe out! My ISP (Freeserve) hadnt done anything about my account so yet more delay!

At the moment I am having to use 56K to check my email but is totally usless when uploading new covers.

Its very frustrating but its out of my hands.....for the time being.

Well I can certainly wait 10-20 days...

It would be great to be able to get the .82 version at that point or a no-version version.

Is this still a possibilty?

Thanks again for your great work and your replys.
