Advice
« on: July 17, 2002, 05:20:39 am »
:-\ I've recently completed my first Cabinet running(in DOS) ArcadeOS and Mame with the original Arcade monitor, I've also added a SNES emulator and all works well.
PROBLEM - I want to add an N64 emulator, but I don't think there is a DOS version available. Is my best option to switch to windows and lose my Arcade Monitor(It's Low-Res)? In which case will my frontend still work, and if not what's my best GUI option considering I'm using arcade buttons and Joystick?
       Cheers,
               Slice!

You can get a blade 3d card from ultimarc.com and run windows.  I think there is a singular n64 dos emulator, but it's very old.  You might want to search for it as I cant' remember it's name.

Hi,
Well I've ditched the DOS idea and I'm switching to WIN98 or ME (Haven't deceided yet!!) outputed on a TV. But I still want to get both the NIN64 emulator (now looking like Project64!) and MAME to work, in the Cabinet with the six button control setup!
Is there a decent frontend to do this or do I have any other options? Most are written just for MAME or seem to be based on regular Windows GUI's - i.e need a mouse!

You will have to wait a few days until Howie releases his new fe. It will include wrappers to launch emu's that can not be run from the commandline. (And these wrappers will be usable by a lot of other fe's like mine also...great Howard ;-) So you will have lots off options when the dragon rises from the ashes :-) )

Nothing mind blowing about it. Think of me as the digital equivelent of a redneck mechanic.  I patch things together using duct tape, coat hangers and panty hose.  It's not pretty, and the stuff definately wasn't designed to work that way, but it usually gets the job done. :)

Oh and >p< thanks for the cheap plug.  ;D
