Hyper Athlete working in u3
« on: March 29, 2004, 01:56:04 pm »
Looks like u3 is out and they promoted Hyper Athlete from the games not working list.  I don't have the rom yet, and probably wont get it until the next full release, so if someone has it, please try it out and let us know how it is!

I am really looking forward to trying hyper athlete, I have always been a big Track and Field fan.  I hope it works as well on my cab control scheme as Track and Field does.

I gave it a go.  First thing it did was make me play some cheesy puzzle game.  it was like, "I downloaded 450M for THIS?"  Oh well, I'll never play it.

Are we talking about the same game?  I thought it was a Konami modernized Track and Field game.

Whoops!  I got it confused with the other CHD that was released, Susume.

Hyper Athlete plays pretty well. I got a constant 46 fps without tweaking any video settings in Mame32. The sound is very rough though, there's a lot of noise in the way of the sound effects. If you love Track & Field and you can live without the sound (until it's fixed) I'd say it's well worth trying it out. Also, the CHD is pretty small in comparrison to others (178meg) so it's not such a painfull download.

Here's a couple of bad snapshots; it looks a LOT better in motion.

As you can see above, taking a snapshot and trying to pole-vault at the same time is a lot like running with scissors.

H.A. is pretty fun... I'm just more excited about the fact that hang-on has a road again.  ;)
