JPAC with a G07 monitor and advance mame

My g07 monitor works perfectly  with the original board (R-Type II) but I can't get  a stable picture  using a jpac and advance mame.

Reading through the archives, I see that some have jumpered NEG H sync, and the NEG V sync. Do I need to do this with a jpac?

The box is running linux with frame buffer support on a matrox g450 card.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I'm not to sure about your video card, but I'm using an AVGA w/ a jpac and Advmame, and have never had a problem.

And yes, I did jumper the wires.

I've enclosed a pic if that helps. It might give you a better idea as to how I wired it.

I've tried the jumper but it's still not working. Thanks for the pic, that helped alot in finding the right place for the jumper.

Here is what my screen looks like with advcfg (sorry for the poor quality).

The image is doubled with a "tear line" in the middle.

It really feels like I'm almost there,  but I've had the feeling before with this project

I'm not sure if this will help , but since we're using the same monitor with the same ver. of mame, it's worth a shot.

These lines are in my advmame.rc file for the clock rate of the monitor ... it's safe to say your's should be almost similar.

Does your JPAC have jumpers in both the 31KHz and 15KHz positions?  (Mine does btw).

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I'm still having problems...

A few questions:

If the image is perfect with the original board, do I need to fiddle around with  the ajustement pots on the monitor to get a stable image with advcfg or should the software controls be sufficient?

I have played with a combination of software controls and the pots and the best I could get is sometimes it split in two horizontally, sometimes it split in four uncentered parts.

The board has "vertical  centering tabs", could these change anything? Presently, I'm on the righmost of three tabs (looking at the monitor from the back)

According to your picture, you're not outputting @ 15 KHz, or so it appears.  The J-PAC will 1/2 a 31 KHz signal to make sure the monitor suffers no damage.

I really should close the topic by saying that the problem was the matrox g450. The agp version does not work well. I slapped in a riva tnt2 and used fraggles boot cd to install a dos version of mame. Seing a synched screen with advcfg was an absolute moment of bliss.

Yersterday I kept trying to work on my web contracts but I couln't keep my hand of my machine, now my client wants one too   .

Congrats--working with advmame is so much more rewarding just because its so much trickier to get running--any newbie can use an AVGA
