K7191 problems
« on: March 24, 2004, 10:42:46 pm »
I just bought a used WG K7191 monitor.  It stopped working after a couple of days so I did a cap kit.  It worked great after that...until today when I turned it on and smelled smoke.  Turns out that R301, the big white resistor on the side of the chassis burned up.  Are these problems related, or is it just my bad luck?

When you did the capkit did you also check the board for bad solder joints? It's possible that the flyback transformer has blown and/or the horizontal output transistor has shorted. C36 or C69 (if present) might be shorted.
