Importing custom lists into MAMEWah?
« on: March 24, 2004, 01:26:53 am »
I had made a whole bunch of custom lists, then I had to reformat my HDD- but I backed them up.  Is there a way to import them back into Mamewah?  I copied the "Files" folder over and MW kind of "freaked out" (didn't work).

Also, I can't seem to get Catver working again.  I have catver.ini in the folder with the Mame.exe but MW doesn't seem to "see" it.

As long as your MAME structure is the same as previous you should be able to use your old 'Files' folder and contents.

If it freaked out it suggests to me that something is different this time.  If you can't see what you could delete all the .CFG files (leave the LST ones) and reconfigure - the contents of the Custom Lists will still be all in tact, just make sure you if you have >1 emulator that you keep the same 'emu' numbering as before.

You have catver.ini in the right place, have you refreshed the games list?

Nothing changed as far as the paths.  All of my Mame files, roms and artwork is all on another hard drive- so that I wouldn't lose them if something happened to the root drive.  The only thing I did was back up my MameWah files and layouts, then when I reinstalled it- I dropped them back into the folders.

But it didn't like that. :(

I had refreshed the games list several times, and the "Generate Custom List using Filters" never worked, but this morning it does.  Weeeeeird.

Minwah-  the .lst files work, but the list names didn't carry over and I don't remember which list was what.  Isn't that all in the old emu1.cfg file?

Wierd indeed :)

Yes the list names are within the EMU?.CFG file(s).  Have the names gone back to the defaults, ie 'Custom List x'?

Yes, that's exactly what happened.

I don't know why that happened, try copying the CFG files over again.  Failing that you'll just have to check the games in each list to jog your memory ;)
