how to set resolution in mame?

i use mamewah with a athlon optimized version of mame. when i used to use mame32 there was an option to make all games display in 1024 resolution. how can i do this with mamewah/mame ?


also is there a way to disable scandisk when you start your computer, if you dont shut down properly it does that scan.. i want to disable that

in your mame.ini file, change resolution to 1024x768 or any desired resolution you wish.

I don't think you can do it directly from windows.  It might be an option in TweakUI, or I'm pretty sure there are freeware apps to disable it, but I don't know of a specific one.

If you click on "Start" then "RUN" and type in "msconfig."  You can select Advanced under the General tab section and then check the "disable scandisk after bad shutdown option."  I'm not sure if this works in all versions of windows though but you can give it a shot.

thanks ill try that for the scandisk

also i couldnt seem to find my mame.ini file, should it be in the same folder as my mame.exe?

It works in Win'98, changed mine last night.  Thanks, Mr. Dude.

Yes, but I don't think it comes as part of MAME.

Get to a dos (Command) prompt (Accessories tab), cd (Change directory) to your mame folder and type "Mame -cc" (no quotes) and enter, and MAME will build one that you can modify.
