What tv??????
« on: March 16, 2004, 11:05:16 pm »
Help!!!!!!!!!! I am looking for a TV that is smaller less than 25 in. wide and has rear s/v input. Prefer 24 or 25 inch screen. Every model i find is 25.5 in. or larger. Can anyone suggest a particular model or brand. I found a sharp with composite video only.....not good enough!

HELP!!!

They rarely put S-Video on any TV less than 27". >:(
I think that Sony makes a 20" Wega that has S-Video, but it would probably cost you more than a 19" CGA. ;)

Not sure I agree with that.  I have an old Sony 21" and it has (front) S-video input, and so do many others I have seen - I am in the UK, perhaps it is different elsewhere?

Here's a 20-inch Panasonic with rear S-Video.  It also automatically turns back on when you unplug it when it's on and plug it back in...  http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&catoid=-11482&qp=0081037523100&oid=72760  Best of all, it's only $149.

There are several 20" TVs out there that will fit your needs (and maybe some 24"s). Check out www.bestbuy.com, they have all of the dimentions of their TVs listed in the description.

Even if you don't have a BB near you, you can use it as a guide as to what models you want.

I just picked up an open-box Dawoo there that worked perfectly for my application for $124. Don't know the model munber, though.

For example, here's an Advent for $139, with Svideo input. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1051806176075&skuId=4542944&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03004

That Advent is great if you like having the flat screen instead of a curved one.  The main problem I ran into with the 20-inchers is that I personally don't like the flat screens, which most of them have.  After much research I hunted down that Panasonic I suggested above, since it's curved, has auto power-on, and S-Video.

Do you feel that a 20 inch screen is large enough for a UA1 cab?

I know it's a cheesy thing to say, but I think it's all a matter of personal preference, so that's a call you'd have to make yourself.  Personally, I'm happy with the 20" TV in my cabinet, but others may want something bigger.

bobrinaldi,

If you find a TV that will fit those specs, please let me know as I am look for basically the same thing (and I will post if I find anything as well).  20" Just seems too small for that size cab!  My cab is 23.75" wide.

Thanks,
bnice7

Found the ultimate Tv for my cab. 24.6 inch wide.

http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&catoid=-11482&qp=031183119&oid=73710

It's a 25" panasonic with component-in on the back. (No s-video) I have a Radeon 8500 and component adapter on the way. Hope all the advice from the monitor forum regarding the Radeon and adapter from ATI work as good as they say. Hope this helps others

Bnice

With a cab width of 23.75 your only hope might be a 20 inch screen. I spent 2 weeks checking EVERY store or web site out ther for a tv with the smallest footprint and found nothing.  The 20 inch models should fit. The panasonic I listed above would work with some mods to the TV cab (are you handy with a sawzall) Cir. city lowered the price to below $200.00 but you will need an ATI card with a component adapter (another $100.00) from what I hear it is well worth it!!!!! again here is the link..
