Looks like it's be a fairly straight-forward restoration, assuming you had a vector monitor to put into it.

Holy frijoles, that bolted-on control panel is HIDEOUS.  Then again, it looks like it might be pretty easy to remove, so...

How could some one do that to a Tempest , that is a great game , i remember back in the arcade when i saw 44 credits on the game , i hopped right on it , didn't know why it had so many , took me awhile to find out why and how , from then on i could make the game give me the extra credits , and because of that i could get  past level 65 which is invisible level and my favorite levels , i even bought one along time ago and plan on making a mame one , one day

Well it's not as bad as that $300 working Tempest who's owner cut the marquee off to fit it in his room. Not to mention all the Tempest cabs that've been left to rot in barns, or broken up and tossed in landfills.  :-\

The artwork looks good on this one, It's easy to fix a metal control panel, repro overlays are available, and Oscar just happens to make a repro Tempest spinner...  8)

LOL so *THAT*'s how I could fit a 3rd party bolt on panel!

Assuming thats the only 'modification' it wouldnt be too bad if it stays low $, either for a restore, or for someone wanting to mame it up and keep it looking stock. The art looks good, edges look a little beat, but it IS a 20+yr old machine- nothing some filling, snading and fresh Tmold wouldnt fix
(I thought the back door was missing, but the last pic on the auction i think i see it standing up behind it)
