You might want to change the title, it's confusing. what you posted is a custom layout not a "custom version of mamewah" (which is not open source). You may also want to give credit to the original author.
Thanks for sharing.

I agree.  Don't take this the wrong way, because I'm sure you didn't mean to do it, but I find the fact that you are taking credit for something you had virtually nothing to do with very offensive.  I mean you cloned somone else's skin and added some very minor graphical adjustments. Not only that, but the original author got their source artwork from cinema arcade.  So it's a ripoff of a ripoff.  Not so sure you can call it "yours."

first the title "custom mamewah mame front end" explains the first poin the first poster broght up, i'm sure if you read it a few times you'll figure out what it means.

second, no where do i take credit for anything or ask for credit for anything or claim that it's original so i think howard needs to take a reign (yes i spelled it that way on purpose) check.

sheesh people these days, maybe i should just open up maya, spend 6 hours modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering a virtual arcade or i could just use one that someone else made. or maybe i should spend $200 on a digital camera to take a picture of my cabinet... or i could just use the one some other guy made. maybe i should put my name on the bottom of it and claim it's mine, bah whatever it's just a image for a mame front end in mamewah.

Its is always a nice guesture though to include a text file with the zip that credits where your got the originals from. That being said I see in the background a screenshot from my 3d arcade frontend. And i have no problems with that at all ;-)

Well, no you don't have to do that.  But if you want to take full credit for your work then you do.  :)  Suck it up, do the right thing.

I think that your real problem is the mastery of the english language.  If you read my post I said that I didn't think you did it intentionally so I have no clue why you got all upset.

Case in point:

"it's just a image for a mame front end in mamewah"

What exactly does that mean?  Mind you I'm the LAST person to be giving english advice but what you mean to say is "It's just a skin for mamewah."  It's not for a front end in mamewah because mamewah is the frontend.  Just like the title for this thread should be "custom skin for mamewah"  I think a custom front-end for mamewah would be redundant as mamewah, itself is a front-end.  ;)

In closing everyone lighten up, and get over yourselves.  If you feel that I'm being an "@$$" for doing the right thing and defending other's copyrights who aren't even here to defend themselves  then you must have some very skewed morals.

Rawker, not giving credit is exactly the same as taking credit.  If you don't see that then I'm sorry, but it's the truth.  Don't make such bold announcments unless your are willing to give people the credit they deserve.  If you would have said something like "this is a skin I have been working on"  in the title then we wouldn't even be having this discussion, but the way it is now some people who aren't in the know could even think that you made mamewah with your poor wording.

Of course those people would be kinda stupid, but we can't hold that against them. ;)

yeah now i should do release notes, setup a web site, add a link in a signature, contact the guys at every major mame site to let them know of the release, and maybe i should setup an installer too to make things easier for people. how about i do up some web banners, buy some ad space on google, and talk to the mamewah distributors to get it included in every release....

in closing (wtf? lol) howard you still need a reign check, get over yourself, and come back when your old enough to not only control your ignorance but when your old enough to accept others as they are. until then you will continue to fight a never ending fight with yourself and endup stuck in your parents basement with nothing but your soiled blanket.

I think the point Howard was trying to make is that it is generally polite to give credit or mention other contributors when you distribute or post stuff of this nature.

Not that the said contributors are neccessarily even bothered (as )p( kindly demonstrates), but hopefully you see my point.

FYI (and anyone else) I think a while ago we decided that this kindof subject should be entered to the Artwork forum - there was a phase where these threads took over the software forum!

Thanks, and I think this thread should end here :)
