mame32 problem with ini file, help please.
« on: March 12, 2004, 02:13:05 am »
I am using Mame32 and the ini file appears to be read only ( I think this is why I have to re-specify the directories every time I open mame ). I have tried going into properties and removing the tick from the read only prompt box but it just returns to read only again. Any ideas or do I need a different mame32 version?
Confused.

If you are in 2k/xp... go to the root directory where mame is installed.... adjust the folder options so that they aren't read only and apply the change to all files inside.

Well I tried resetting the main MAME folder properties and unticking the read only box but it doesn't work. When I go back into the properties the tick in the read only box is back. Any advice?

Try making a copy of the ini file, rename the original file and rename the new file to what the old one was called. I'm sure I could have explained that a lot easier!

Make sure you're not running Mame32 when you're playing with the permissions as well cause that might screw it up.
