NFL Blitz 2027 - patch for blitz2k (NFL Blitz 2000 Gold arcade)

NFL Blitz 2027 is a patch for the MAME blitz2k set (NFL Blitz 2000 Gold). It brings the game up to date with all 32 teams including the Houston Texans, current rosters, refreshed logos, and more.

It's distributed as a small binary patch only (Windows, macOS, Linux supported). It contains no game data and is applied to your own original CHD. Earlier community work on Blitz roster editing (at NFL Blitz Fans) was a big inspiration. The arcade version is peak NFL Blitz so it's time it had an update

What's changed

• 32 teams including the Houston Texans, the Las Vegas Raiders, the LA Chargers, and the LA Rams
• Current player rosters
• New logos, helmets, team-select and matchup art, on-field name tags
• Re-recorded announcer voice lines

Installation

• Download the patch for your OS from the GitHub release: https://github.com/opdx0/nfl-blitz-2027
• Copy your original blitz2k.chd into the patch folder.
• Run the script (PATCH.bat, PATCH.command or patch.sh). It needs about 13 GB of temporary space and takes 2 to 10 minutes depending on your system.
• Copy the new blitz2k.chd into your MAME rompath's blitz2k folder (next to your unmodified blitz2k.zip), replacing the old one. Your original stays in the patch folder as blitz2k.chd.original.

No game data included You need your own original blitz2k CHD (MAME SHA1 e89b7fbd4b4a9854d47ae97493e0afffbd1f69e7); the patch won't work on anything else. A successful patch reports PASS and a Data SHA1 of f2a61cacd8552beb2df94b20a262f27234c78ebe:
