Hantarex MTC-900 "Bluescreen"
« on: September 26, 2026, 07:20:20 am »
Hi guys,
I'm a long time member - been on and off for about 20 years or so now  :o - I've acquired a couple more cabinets since my last visit and one of them has a Hantarex MTC 900 monitor which has been fine for a while then started to have minor issues like the picture being a bit "jittery" and grey lines across the screen and now has gone completely blue. :(

Ideally I'd like to keep the monitor if it's a relatively easy/cheap fix but obviously there's a cut off point where it's just not financially feasible to do so. It's in a MAME cabinet and not in an original pacman cabinet or anything so could go TFT but like I said, I would like to salvage it if at all (financially) possible.

Gavin.

Any monitor experts remaining? I just need to know if it's salvageable or if I should bin it.

Gavin.

900 suffer badly from leaky transistors and corroded diodes in colour circuit
first thing to do is desolder the blue gun pin on the crt socket or lift one side of resistor on that pin, if blue screen is resolved then check/replace all diodes and transistor on blue circuit
is this a 900 or 900e or 900usa ?

Hi and thanks for the reply :)

Not too sure on the model but looking from the back of the monitor, the left hand side PCB is PE06, the right hand side is DF04 and the neck board is NE04.

Does that help?

As you can probably tell, it's not my area of expertise but I did manage to discharge it without killing myself!  ;D
