RetroArch for Atari 7800 in Hyperspin
« on: May 27, 2026, 10:08:40 am »
I'm running Hyperspin 1.5.1 with HyperLaunchHQ 1.0.13.  I've had success setting up several systems when the systems and emulators have already been set up by the front end (ie. when the systems are in the list of "systems found" and the associated emulators are in the list of "default emulators", like using RetroArch for Sega Genesis and SNES).  That seems pretty plug and play.  But, I wanted to start setting up some new systems and using different emulators.  I wanted to add Atari 7800 but, for reasons I can't figure out, the graphics are messed up when I use ProSystem.  But they look great when I use RetroArch.  So I was trying to set up RetroArch as the emulator for Atari 7800 in HyperSpin, using the ProSystem core.  Having a real hard time figuring it out though.  And honestly, I'd just like to understand this better since RetroArch can be used for so many things.

I added Atari 7800 as a new "Menu Item" in HyperHQ.  But when I go to set it up in HyperLaunchHQ then, RetroArch is not listed as a default emulator that I can use.  I'm assuming that's because the installed auto hot key for RetroArch (2.0.5) looks a little limited and doesn't include Atari 7800 (or other systems that I'm pretty sure it can run).  I found a thread on the HyperSpin forum where it mentioned this and showed a new updated copy that someone had made (2.4.4, which has many additional systems added).  So, I tried to replace the current RetroArch .ahk (2.0.5) in HyperSpin>Modules>RetroArch with the new updated version (2.4.4).  When I do that though, HyperLaunchHQ says the updated module has an invalid CRC and "might have been tampered with".  I don't know a lot about auto hot keys, but I can tell that the updated copy is written differently than the original copy.  Any suggestions for how to install an updated RetroArch module that will allow me to use it with Atari 7800 in HyperSpin (or is there something else I'm missing?).
