Pac-Man CPO Special Request
« on: March 08, 2004, 01:09:17 pm »
I hope someone out there can help me with this. Although with computers and programs I'm very knowledgable, graphics I am not. I'm working on restoring an original Pac-Man cabinet for use as a MAME cab. I want to restore the cab to it's original look and feel of Pac-Man. I have a line on the side-art and kickplate graphics, but I need a good CPO made. I will be using (1) 4/8 way joystick, 6-button StreetFighter config, trackball and spinner. Like I said, I'd like to keep the look and feel of the CPO with Pac-Man as much as possible.

Anyone out there able to lend me a hand with designing something like this?

Thanks,
Craig - Atlanta, Ga. USA

If you've got Illustrator you can download several Pac-Man CPO variations here:

http://localarcade.com/4images/categories.php?cat_id=6&sessionid=814b490c617d03177aae023c9f3b0706&page=3

And modify them to suit your layout. If not if you can post the layout of your panel showing where the controls will be I'm sure someone can help modify it.

That *IS* the list. That's the number one major repository of all the vector artwork done for arcade games. You won't find a larger source of free arcade artwork anywhere.

AND.......if what you're looking for ISN'T there. You pretty much request it here and the magic vector monkey's make it appear!  ;D
If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

I have a bunch of other pieces... marquees, bezels, and pieces of side art that I haven't posted up there (to the library) yet because I have them in JPG format, and haven't had time to vectorize them. If I can vectorize them, I'm hesitant to post it to the non-vector section. So if anyone needs something, they should post their requirements, and who knows, we might have it. At some point we should make a general call to the main board for people to submit detailed pics or scans so we can have more material. In another few months, if I keep going at my current rate, I'll be done vectorizing all of the raster art I have.

Not that I am a graphic artist or anything, but I could certainly lend a hand vectorizing old arcade artwork if you guys need. I have AI. I also have spare hours sometimes that I could devote. What better way by preserving these games than by preserving the artwork... Do you need special graphic artists to do this type of work? Is there a FAQ you can point me to where I can find out more...

After I finish the Galaxian side art I'll be happy to help too. Maybe you should post a list of the raster files you have.

Anyone interested in producing a vector of the Ms. Pac-man cocktail underlay?

I'm pretty sure the images on the Ms. Pac coctail underlay have already been vectorized. It would just be a matter of assembling them in the correct places.

I have a jpg of the ROTJ yoke overlay if anyone would like to vectorize it. Maybe I should post it. Some Galaga 88 stuff too.... I should see what other raster stuff I have that isn't vectorized.
