D9200 Setup
« on: March 07, 2004, 10:41:17 pm »
I installed a 9200 in my Mame cabinet today and I'm not having any luck.

Firstly, is this thing supposed to come with a manual (I bought a new one direct from Wells Gardner and it didn't).

As for setup, I connected power to the power and VGA to the VGA using the supplied cables. Is there anything left to do?

When I turn on power, I get a couple clicks, like monitors make when changing sync rates. When I turn on my PC, I get a lot more of these clicks, but I never get any video. Not the post screen, nothing. I've tried this with an ArcadeVGA card and an old NVidia I had. The system itself works with a standard monitor (with the NVidia anyway), it's just the 9200 that seems to be the issue.

Any tips?

Try setting your video resolution to 800x600 or lower.  Also, try rebooting in safe mode and see if there is a video driver problem.

Are you at least getting the "NO SIGNAL" colored box message when just the monitor is on and PC is off?  If not, then it sounds like there is a problem with your monitor.  You should contact Wells Gardner.

No to the No Signal, I haven't seen so much as a flicker on the monitor.

Thanks for that, I'll get in touch with them today.

There is a small connector/wire that needs to be moved on the flyback, I believe.  Tha sounds like the problem I had with mine.  Look at the back for a small, maybe 4-wire ribbon cable.  There are two connectors it can be attached to.  I seem to remember one of them is for CGA, the other is for VGA, and they have markings to indicate which is which.

A call to the WG tech support will get you the correct info.

Well, it turns out my first monitor was DOA. Wells Gardner support was great and shipped me out a new monitor the day I contacted them. I got it today and it's working with no problems.
