Hidden Mamewah feature
« on: March 07, 2004, 05:13:46 pm »
Small undocumented "feature" that you might want to use.

Mamewah can display multiple snapshots of each game during the screensaver. I use this on my Daphne emulator since there are so few games.  The multiple snaps have to have the same name, just a different extension. Since Mamewah supports several graphic formats, you can have additional snaps using those different formats (e.g.  lair.png   lair.jpg   lair.gif)

It will always display the same snap on your layout (based on its hierarchy I guess), but for screensaver mode, it will use all valid formats.

The way you are 'supposed' to do this is using the different 'Artwork #? Path's - this way you can use the same image extensions too...

Do you have a screenshot?  I don't actually know exactly how what you are saying could work!  ::)

Minwah,

Sorry if I wasn't very clear.   ???

A screenshot wouldn't help because the screensaver only shows 1 picture at a time. (at least mine does)

I just put multiple screenshots in the snap directory and it uses them all when it cycles through the screensaver.

My only use for it is with emulators that have very few games. Instead of seeing the same 5 or 8 pictures, I show a couple of shots from each game using different graphic extensions.

Aaahh I see - I had no idea it would work like that, so it truly is a 'hidden' feature - well spotted ;)
