Needed, usb gamepad that has digital directionals
« on: March 07, 2004, 12:25:55 am »
Ok, I've gone thru 2 pads sofar and haven't found one yet.  They all say that the directional pad is POV which doesn't seem to work as directionals.  My latest buy is a Logitech Dual Action, and the directional pad doesn't work with the program that came with it nor Joy2key.
What I'm looking for is a controler, similar to a dualshock, with 12 buttons (including L3,R3 joystick clicks) that the directional pad can be mapped to the arrow keys, is that so much to ask...
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Did you download the experience 4.5 software off the site. It works for a lot of their joysticks  and gamepads.

My cheap gamepad pro 14.95 is doing an ok job for fighting games but when playing maze games and the classics it doesn't work so good.

I just got the controller last weekend and haven't had too much time to tinker with it, I don't know if I can configure it to be just 4 way.

This is just my 2 cents and btw I still consider myself a newbie seeing as I still haven't built my mame computer nor have my controls been delivered hopefully some time this week. Oh and the fact that I only have 50 games.

you ca pick up a cheap psx controller and usb connector.  Or a thrustmaster or gravis gamepad.

Do NOT buy a Gravis Gamepad Pro if you plan on hacking it (specifically the one that looks like a Playstation pad). They have real issues that make them unsuitable for hacking.

Basically they work fine while the controller is together, but if you hack them, then they both ghost and block, specifically in the area of the directional buttons.
