No and this is the pic that got my intrest. And this little write-up also got me thinking:
For a home theatre PC, low noise is very important, and the VIA EPIA M-10000 does very well at keeping the noise level down. However, the board is not the only component in that setup, you have a harddrive and a DVD ROM drive. The harddrive I was using was far too noisy, so I decided to go with solid state, a 128MB Compact flash and adapter. I used Windows 98 as Windows XP is far too big for a compact flash. Together with program called LitePC (free version) and some careful file pruning I was able to get the 98 install to under 90MB. With all the codec installed and a program called Media Engine. I was set to go. I was also using a Pioneer DVD ROM drive and was able to lower the noise of that by slowing it down with some Pioneer utilities.
Booting from Compact flash is a lot quicker than I initially thought. With Windows98 booting to the desktop within 25 seconds.
