confused about goodtools/goodwindows

okay, i have about 1000 nes roms, and ive downloaded all the screens and stuff from stuzzas site.  well maybe not all of them, but a lot of them.  anyway, i want all the screenshots to appear without me having to manually put them in for each game.  so ive heard that goodtools works by renaming your games so that they are the same as your screenshots.  well some of my games are renamed, about 180 of them (because i downloaded the rest recently) and now when i go back into goodwindows to rename the rest of them, it only sees the old roms, no matter what i do.  everything is in the same folder, but its not reading them in goodwindows.  also, this might be a faq, but is there a way to remove those stupid symbols after each game name like [!] and stupid stuff like that.  i know it helps in the renaming but it looks so dumb.  what do most people do here???

aboutthe last part: Some front ends will mask outthe [!] stuff at the end automatically. I found a mass file renamer, pointed it at the roms directory, and changed [!] to nothing, then to nothing, and so on. Really didnt take too long, and if I do need to rescan or add to em again its easy enough to use goodtools to rename em back

well im pretty sure its GoodNES.  and im using mamewah, if that makes a difference.

Turn on rom turnication.... mamewah has it, dk has it, most all fe's have it.  Renaming is NOT the answer.  Goodtools is the standard, like it or not.... mame has these same abbreviations (cps games have the serials, most clones have the country ect).... so the solution is to make sure your favorite fe supports hiding these extra characters, not to rename them and give yourself a hard time having to rename everything associated with those roms to match.

hmmm, well id love to do it in mamewah, but i cant figure out how.  i went into mamewah, and messed around with the settings, but nothing seems to work.  also, i still cant get all the roms to come up in goodwindows.  it just shows 181 games.  i have 1000 or so games, but they arent coming up.  suggestions?
