my CP layouts

This was my first time using Illustrator and I'm pretty happy with how it's coming out. Having trouble picking a color scheme but I like the overall idea.

Anyway here's a pdf with a couple different color options: http://68.7.190.37:8080/images/mame/cp1/control_panel.pdf

There's also some fullsize gifs and an ai at: http://68.7.190.37:8080/images/mame/cp1/

looks like you could add a really cool background in the black space to me.  I was trying to find some Dungeons & Dragons : Shadow of Mystara artwork, cause you could make that thing look really freakin good!
-keep up the good work so far

Looks good so far. Will look even better once you've applied a background image. The color scheme, IMO, is largely dependent on what the BG ends up looking like. Have you got a marquee or side art yet? What's the theme for this cab?

Thanks, at this point there really is no theme picked. Just playing with different ideas to see what I like. I'm going to start small and build a stand-alone controller first. Figured I might as well experiment with artwork while I'm at it.

As far as Dungeons & Dragons : Shadow of Mystara; I love that game and the whole D&D idea in general. The only real pictures I was able to find are at http://www.capcombr.hpg.ig.com.br/CapcomBR_Galeria.htm under the flyer. I combined the P1 and P2 images and started to draw the fighter character.

Here's the original: http://68.7.190.37:8080/images/mame/cp1/p1_and_p2.jpg

And what I've come up with so far: http://68.7.190.37:8080/images/mame/cp1/dnd-fighter.gif

However I'm starting to think this is too complicated of an image for my non-existant Illustrator skills. The characters would look awesome but I think at this point I'll need to stick to pre-vectored art, simple rasterized images that were vector and are easily traced, or custom simple designs like my CP layouts above.

I'm going to try and find so easier to duplicate images and practice on them.

Yah, maybe you could give a request to all those vector dudes on some of that artwork.  Personally I think a mix of illustrator and photoshop works great, the artwork that you really need to find is this stuff: http://www.lantus-x.com/FBAx/  that title on the top, I really wish someone would have dumped the artbook art that came with the saturn version of this game.
Maybe you should email that FBAx guy and see where he got his D&D artwork, maybe he has a capcom art book or something.
      -good luck
