jumped the gun and need some help

Back when I first started my cabinet I did a dumb thing and went out and bought a TV without doing any research.  Well, luckily it is a very good TV and plays all my games and everything very nicely, however I have two very annoying problems.  One is that it will not power up to S-video mode and the second is every time I switch video modes or there is a change in display (such as switching to different emulators in Mamewah) there is text displayed on the screen of what video mode it's in like saying "S-VIDEO".  Is there any way I can get it to #1. Power up to S-video and #2. get rid of the video mode text that keeps being displayed on screen?  I really appreciate any advice that could be given. :'(

What's the make and model of the TV? Sometimes there are factory settings that can be accessed by holding down a button while tunring on the TV. This owrked for my Sony 19". I had to hold down the setup button while turning the TV on, and I got to a menu of factory default settings, along with power-on config options.

Hey, that's cool to know.  Wish there was something like that for my RCA flatscreen, but if you push any buttons and hit the power button it does nothing.

It's a 24" KLH... I can look up more specifics when I get home from work if you'd like. :)
