GroovyMAME vertical game resolution question
« on: April 01, 2023, 10:26:50 am »
I have a 15/24k dual sync monitor, most vertical games switch to right resolution accordingly, but for Contra which resolution is 280 x 224 (V), it switches to 2560x320p instead of 280p, is this correct? If not, how can I correct it?

Yes this is normal. 280p requires approx. 300 or 310 lines with blanking. Refresh rate is 60 Hz so let's calculate the required horizontal frequency: 300x60 = 18000 Hz or 18 kHz. It's out the typical range of a 15 kHz or 24 kHz monitor.
