"The ArtCade" (updated) (old BioArtCade)
« on: February 29, 2004, 07:52:43 pm »

UPDATE: I think the name "ArtCade" is better than "BioArtCade" (at least for the first cab...).  I'll probably make a BioArtCade later with DNA strands all over or something like that :)

Hey All,

Woodworking is basically done.  Need to add T-molding, coin and access door.  Will install monitor and bezel once that's done.  Still waiting for Slikstik classic panel... let me know what you guys think!

I finally got the CP in... I like the overall color theme (even though the buttons and joysticks are the wrong color at the moment)

Nice Work!

I was just checking out your website.. and I started to laugh when I read this

""Here's the picture as it stands (the CP is not fully secured yet, but you get the idea... I've been playing all night :)""

It seems you broke BYOAC: Rule 27: "Install the Control Panel last."

Cause once get the Control Panel working, 99% of the time, the rest of the work to finish off your cabinet grinds to a halt once your able to play games.

Thats what happen to me, my cabinet is in the same state when I got the control panel working over 2 years ago.  :D

Aww, I was hoping this was the cabinet that Frosty did the "Bio-Art" for.

What the heck is it called Bioartcade? Because the future marquee might say it? Where's the theme?
If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

hehe,  My nickname has been bioart for at least  12 years... (my PhD is in biochemistry :)).  I haven't decided what kind of side art to give it to keep the theme... On the other hand, I may change its name to the "ArtCade" and keep the confusion away :)

Nice looking cab, but why the Slikstick? I don't understand why people go to all the trouble to build a cab from scratch and then bolt on a pre-made CP.

It does look really good don't get me wrong but building your own custom CP is a lot of fun, well I think so anyway!

That's a great question :)  I figured I wanted it to be done right and not ever having made a cab or anything this complicated, this would increase my chances of coming up with something useful... I figure that if others want me to build one for them, I may build a CP from scratch then and give them the slikstik...  (Don't get me wrong, I love the slikstik, but I can already think of a few thinks I'd love to change on it... :))

Thanks for the compliments...

Art (and btw, no one is allowed near it with stencil letters or spray paint)
