Mamewah questions
« on: February 29, 2004, 04:32:27 pm »
I've been slowly putting together my cocktail cabinet on a shoe string budget and I have a couple of last minute questions.

1.  In mamewah, m.a.m.e. will not load moonpatrol, but when I am running mame 32, it loads it just fine.  Is it somthing to do with me using command line mame?

2.  In the mamwewah game list, is there a way to get rid of the crap like (U)[!] when you are searching through console games or do you just have to rename all your roms and snaps without them.

3.  I know there is a jukebox forum but I will post this here with my other questions.  What is your favorite jukebox app?  What do you recommend if I only have joysticks and buttons to control it with.

4.  I'd like to listen to mp3's while playing mame games.  Is there any way to do this?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

-Jonny

3: you need to decide what style of jukebox you want. Look at the first thread in the jukebox forum, it's got a nice list. My favorites are Wincab/DosCab if you like "single title" jukeboxes, PartyBox is pretty good and free if you like "album style" jukeboxes. I've had nothing but trouble with VMJ but your experience could be different...

4: mame has "ownership" of the sound card so you can't mix mame sounds and MP3s unless you have 2 soundcards, which can be a troublesome setup. Maybe you could completly disable sound in mame but what's the fun in that?

I have this same problem with many of my roms...I also wonder why this is? Also, a few games totally crash MAMEWAH. anyone have any ideas why?

1. Are you running the same version of MAME32 as MAME?  Are your roms checked (by ClrMAMEPro or RomCenter)?

2. Try making a custom list.  I know that I added an option to remove stuff in (brackets) for MAME custom lists, I can't remember if I made it work for [square brackets] too...

3. ?

4. No - I purposely make the MP3's stop before launching the game.  It is possible to play both at the same time, although personally I don't see why you would want to do it, music gets mixed up and sounds awful!  I suppose with the Arcade Ambience MP3's it could be ok...

4) Theres a bit here about having music in the background while mame or other emulators are running:
