Problem with VMMaker and Radeon R7 370. Can't get 15khz to work

Hey Guys! I need some help with VMMaker

I read here http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,152839.0.html that you can use VMMaker with standart driver.

I don't wanna use CRT_Emudriver because I need Video Acceleration when watching Movies.

I wanna install 2 modes: 640x480@59.94 interlaced and 720x576@50 interlaced

I am following this tutorial:

https://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1052#p1052

Calamity writes there "Finally I'll click on Enable EDID emulation.

Immediately after clicking, my PC monitor goes out of sync, as a 15.6 kHz horizontal frequency is reported on its OSD."

That's not the case here! When I click on enable edid emulation the screen flickers and I still have an image on my computer monitor in 1600x1200 resolution.

The graphics card is not outputting an 15khz signal :-\

I have following outputs: DP, HDMI, DVI-D and DVI-I

Monitor is connected to the DVI-I port.

I am confused.. do I need to enable EDID emulation on Analog_0-VGA or on Digital_DVI?

and also do I need to check add modes from mode list?

the Card is totally capable of 15 khz and analog output. It works absolutely fine with Groovyarcade

any help here would be much appreciated!

flybynight

For that card, connect the vga cable to a the dvi-i port via an adapter and choose analog-0-vga.

I've no idea if that will work without emu driver though.

If not, try it with emu driver and see if it works. All the 3d games I throw at emu driver powered r9 380's and 380x's  play with acceleration.  You may still still have graphics acceleration on your movies with it.

If you follow the links in that thread about using VMM and EDID emulation with stock drivers, you end up here - https://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1217#p1217 where Calamity notes that the method won't work to install modes below 640x480 and goes on to cite other problems. you won't be able to use switchres IIRC, which is the core change in GroovyMAME. Added to which, Calamity has updated crt_emudriver and Windows itself is always updating. It might work with certain combinations of the two and not others.

Targeting the wrong video port for EDID emulation might crash your system, but you should be able to go into safe mode to recover. It's worth a shot.
