Beatmania question
« on: February 27, 2004, 10:33:08 am »
I just installed .79 lastnight.
I tried to run beatmania and it sits there at the rom check. How long is this supposed to take? It seems to stop on the ROM S at the bottom. Am I just impatient? :)
Thanks,

SirPeale

Speaking of beatmania, do any of the versions run at full speed on any systems?  I know that most of the CHD games won't, and I want to know if it will be worth my time to try and get any of them.

If you feel like answering specificly if it will work on my system, I'm running an athalonxp 2000+ with 256megs of ram.

Or, if you feel like answering more generaly, just tell me the lowest you would suggest to go and run the games at full speed, if at all.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Well, I've just done a quick test on the original beatmania  (JA-B) and on my machine - WinXP, 512MB, AthlonXp 3200+, once booted it runs at 100% speed, no frameskip or anything, using only about 60% CPU time.

Not sure exactly how well it will scale down but, your 2000+ is around 40% slower, so you should be right on the limit of running it 100% with no frameskip. Thats a bog standard MAme build (0.79).

Someone else may be able to confirm?
