New marquee design for 2P fighter cab
« on: February 26, 2004, 02:33:27 pm »
I'm thinking of a way to sexy it up a little without going overboard. Any suggestions?

Ha.. "Illegally emulating since 2000".

Is this what you're starting with or the new image you're going to replace the old one with?

I've got one on my cab that's similar but uses different colors. Since I'm redoing the cab and going with different colors I wanted to redo the marquee.

New Control Panel:

Old Cabinet color (was red, soon to be black)

I like it as is.  I think if you added much more it would be cluttered.  Nice work!

I like the cabinet red, any reason you want it black now? And is it painted? Laminated? Stained?

When I painted it red I didn't do a good enough job of sanding and after the finish had dried you could still see wood grain through the paint. It looked more like a stain. I didn't want that. So I'm going to put some black vinyl on the sides. I already sanded the front side completely. I liked the red, too, but methinks I'll save that for my NeoGeo cab.

Did you put a few coats of primer first?

I used MDF.  I put 2 coats of primer on it and after putting on the first coat of paint I could not see the grain.  I did 3 coats of paint overall.

That looks good just like that.
Don't try to "sexy" up the guys...

The green/black/white will look good with the control buttons.

I'd add a fake ESRB rating box to the corner, something like "rated ARRR, for extreme piracy"

Flampoo,

Any chance you could remove the McClain's Arcade Machine Emulator text and post a large version of the image somewhere?

I simply love this marquee but have too little creative talent to do make one myself :(

Thanks,
Todd
