Brightness flickering on CRT monitor

Hello and good evening everyone
I am having a strange issue with my monitor. I think it's a chassis issue.
When i turn the arcade on, the brightness of the screen start to flicker, changing the brightness of the picture without stopping. it may do it faster or slower some times.

Anything i can do to resolve this issue?

That might be... not a major arc on the neckboard, but a broken trace, or even cracked joint around a cap or similar. I guess it could also be G2/screen related though, so try adjusting that knob on the flyback and see what gives. If there's nothing obvious you could hit both (or just individual parts of the neckboard) with some freeze spray and use a piece of dowel to push things gently.

Remember to be safe when working on a live CRT!

Thank you for your reply. well on the flyback knobs i have two options. screen and focus if i remember correctly. what i did is to play with the screen knob. all the way down and up for several times and then adjust it. it seems to be stable now. i dont know if this is a permanent solution but i will keep track on how it goes from now on.

The pot might have been a little corroded or dirty, and this has cleaned it slightly. Then again, it might just come back, in which case i'd first try reflowing the solder under the flyback, and then look for other broken traces, reseat the neckboard socket onto the tube a few times in case of any corrosion there, and then the freeze spray.
