Mame32 .79 Wackiness
« on: February 25, 2004, 08:56:25 am »
I loaded up Mame32 with updated roms and for the most part all is well.  But on a lot of the newer shooters, like Raystorm and others from 1997 on up, the scrolling changes speed.  It's kind of hard to explain.  It doesn't look like a frame rate issue it's just that the it speeds up and slows down every second or so.  It's kind of like if you're driving and just keep tapping the gas instead of holding steady.  I have found that if I turn off hardware stretching it fixes the problem but the graphic quality drops.   My pc is a PIII 733 with 448 Mb of Ram and I'm using a pc monitor.  Has anyone else seen this?  Is this a new bug in a new mame?  Or do I need to get a faster pc?

Try using triplebuffer and/or vsync.  If in doubt hit F11 and check what framerate you are getting, perhaps your PC is struggling a bit...

You could also try using a lower resolution if your FPS is lacking.
