GroovyMAME speed on a few medium res games too fast
« on: February 10, 2021, 06:15:05 am »
Hi all,

I have GroovyMAME work great for the most part on a racing cab. It has a 31 KHZ screen and most 240p games with standard scanlines look great, like Chase HQ. I have a few games on the list that run too quickly.

I think they are all medium res games (California Speed, Cruis'n USA etc). When it loads, if I press F11 I can see that it is running too fast. But if I press F9 and cycle through the various frame skips on MAME until I get to Auto 0/10 they all go to a rock solid 100%.

The problem is that this isn't saved upon exit. Is there a way to force GroovyMAME to start these games at auto or is there another setting I am missing.

I have posted a log file for California Speed which I think shows the game running too fast.

Thanks

Solved it. I created ini files for the few games that were causing problems with auto set to 1.

Hi Retro77,

Which "auto" setting do you mean?

EDIT: I think you mean auto frameskip, right?
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Hi Calamity,

Yes, that is what I meant. It seems to have solved my issue. I haven't had much time to test it but for now it seems to have done the trick.

P. S. Thank you so much for CRT Emudriver etc. It is such a great piece of software.
