Top Emulators per platform?
« on: February 22, 2004, 06:26:23 pm »
Hi All,

I'm setting up my software environment while waiting for pieces/help to start my cab.  So far, I have MAME (and ADVMAME) running well, but I can't tell what I should use for the other platforms.  I will run also daphne (though I haven't tried it yet)

I want to emulate (but don't know what to use):

NES/SNES/N64
SEGA (genesis)
Atari 2600
Playstation (maybe)

I looked at MESS, but it was more confusing than what I had time for.  I will look at it later.  In hte meantime, can you guys recommend (assuming it's better than Mess) a different emulator?

Thanks!

Art

Nintendo - VirtuaNES
Super Nintendo - zSNES (Use zSNESfe)
Sega Genesis Gens - (Use GensFE)
Playstation - ePSXe
Atari 2600 - z26 (Use Version with MAME keys)

The emulator versions that I have in parenthesis can be found here:

Ahtough that is definately an option (and a good one I might add) you can also use my wrappers, they will close gens and zsnes just fine without having to hack the cfg files.  :)

Just thought I'd add FCE Ultra for NES, and Project 64 for N64 emulation, both of which are at the link TalkingOctopus posted.

Thanks, I'll try them out.  I'm still trying to decide on the FE, but I'll try a few and see... :)
