Spacing between plexiglass and monitor
« on: February 22, 2004, 02:41:21 pm »
Hey all,

This may be a really idiotic question, but out of curiosity about how much space should there be between the smoked plexiglass and the monitor? Is there a certain depth that is preferable? Just curious.  Thanks for all the great advice as always  :)

Not sure if I can give a correct answer, but all of my dedicated cabs have about 2 inches between the monitor and the glass.  I don't think it makes a real difference, just don't rest the glass right on the monitor glass.  X

Does it matter if the glass is *very* close to the glass (like a few mm)?  I just realised when I put my monitor in the other day that it is going to be a bit closer to the glass than I intended...

i would imagine that the plexi can even touch the glass--its all transparent--you wouldn't even notice the closeness if the plexi was clean--
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

Be very careful. Glass against glass contact may permanently scratch your monitor. It happened to me.

Mine has about five inches or so, which I think looks pretty neat. Looks like the video is just kind of floating back there.

I have my monitor about 1" away.. maybe even less. Definately NOT touching. Looks great though, I like it closer.  8)

Thanks for the tips, I don't think it will quite be touching, but very close.  I can't tell exactly until I get the glass cut (the MDF test piece I made has warped into a half-pipe!)  :D
