PC light gun solution in 2020 if using a CRT?
« on: June 11, 2020, 07:29:54 am »
I have a few ebay alerts set up over a year now for the USB2gun (global VR) boards and old Act Labs PC guns. Unfortunately nothing has come up yet.

Does anyone know is there any other Windows PC light gun solution use with CRTs avaialble in 2020 that is easy to buy?

I'm not looking for an aimtrack/shinden type of technology but rather the type of lightgun tech that needs a CRT scan line to detect the screen position.

15 years ago there was the PS2 guncon solution from a person on this forum that wrote a custom driver but drivers no longer work on Windows 10 64 bit.

I've several CRTs ranging from "15k 240p" to "31k 480p" and ideally a solution that works on both type would be great.
Supporting two players also.

None that I know of.

CRT light guns are now a thing of the past, You can no longer buy a CRT new so nobody is really working on anything for them.

So you are going to be limited to existing solutions I think.

The sinden does work on a CRT though, I proved that when I got to test the prototype.
Cant say I ever tried the AT with the CRT but I am sure it would work.
Not sure how much the screen glare would effect it though.

Thanks, I use aimtracks and they work well if you stand way back from the screen. I'd just rather the feel of the old virtual cop 1 and 2 with CRT accurate guns.

hehehe I have a saturn and play them on the trinitron :)

At this stage I'm just playing around with perfecting the set up as much as possible.

Well you aint getting much more perfect than a Saturn on a CRT for virtua cop.

Only way you can beat that is with a original cab heh

Sounds good JayBee!

I'm reading about some people that have a guncon2 working on a PC with a CRT by way of an "EMS Playstation 2 USB adapter". Only the EMS Playstation 2 USB adapter is no longer available either :D

My ebay alert list
-USB2gun Global VR
-Act labs
-EMS PS2 USB
any other options I can add?

Yeah those devices are mainly driver based, and all have various flaws that need to be addressed  ;D

PS2 works as well, recently messed around with it a bit, I don't think I had ever played Virtua Cop at the Bowling Alley Arcades of my youth, perhaps I did but just can't remember. Not sure if there are any flaws with the PS2 port compared with the Saturn version?

Not that I am aware of but I never played the PS2 version.
