HDMI to VGA 15kHz
« on: September 17, 2019, 05:59:09 am »
Just wanted to share information from another project named MiSTer FPGA (I am sure some people know about this wonder), progress has been made to use the HDMI output to output proper 15kHz resolution with the help of compatible HDMI to VGA adapter. The adapter is working with scanlines and do not introduce any delay. This would enable new generation of card to support 15kHz analogue RGB over HDMI. To my knowledge, it might also be a solution to the 15kHz dot clock requirement. Hardware wised, compatibility will also be higher.

MiSTer - Original analog video without I/O board? Possible!

I was very excited to learn about the MiSTer FPGA, it seems like it will be great for consoles.  I am a little concerned about the Arcade game side though as I noticed on the page linked below that the games listed under the Arcade section seem to all be outputting a refresh rate at either 59hz or 60hz.  A lot of these games ran at different refresh rates, so I am struggling to see how running the games on a copy of original hardware would output a different refresh rate.  That would either slow down or speed up the game.......for reference here's the page:
