My arcade machine.. artwork needed!
« on: February 11, 2004, 08:17:10 pm »
Here it is..

the thing I started working on last December (2002!) and spend more time playing at the end than finishing.

It runs PERFECTLY.  My only problem now is that I'm completly lost when it comes to art work.

I love Neo Geo, Capcom, puzzle games and some classics.  Can anyone help me with the artwork?

Apollo,

I meant to tell you that there is another Apollo but his name is spelled Appolo.
This one refurbishes classics.
His wife helps repaints them too!

Thanks.

It was originally a beat up WWF Wrestlefest that was converted to XMEN: COTA.

All the black you see is new laminate.  Lots of wood work went into fixing it.

The monitor is a WG7000 series (new cap kit).  It's running on an AMD 2400+ with 256MB RAM, 80GB HD, ArcadeVGA and J-PAC.  The coin slot works too!

It all connected to one of those special power sensing bars. One button to turn on and off it all.

The software is Windows XP (highly modified) running with MAMEWAH.  You can see my custom skin (368x240 resolution if I remember correctly).

It's broken up into sub menus:

Arcade, Racing, Sports, Classics, Puzzle, fighting, Daphne

About 20-30 games in each category.  Easy to find the game you want to play this way.

As far as artwork, why do you find pictures from your favorite games and put them on the sides of the cabinet.

This guy printed this using his HP deskjet.

He then printed the side art on adhesive-backed vinyl and laminated it.

I'm not sure if you can get this adhesive backed vinyl.

I'm trying to locate this adhesive backed vinyl so I can print my own artwork.

This is for wide inkjets, I wonder if anyone makes it for smaller inkjets?

Also, go to www.capcom.com and save any graphics to your hard drive.
You could you those graphics for your sides.

Wow! Your cab looks JUST LIKE mone, except for the overlay. Same control layout, etc... I have an old Wrestlefest as well (still have the Wrestlefest marquee on it as I am too cheap to buy a MAME marquee).

One odd difference, though-- I have a four coin slot coin door whereas you only have a two slot... Wonder why that is...

 ;D

I too have the marquee.. I removed it because it looks silly up there, and I turned off the light since it was too bright without it in place (when playing games).

The only visible part that is not original is the actual control pannel.  A new top pannel was created out of 3/4" MDF, drilled and attached.  As you know, the original wrestlefest is 4 player plywood top.  It was much easier to create a new one than salvage the old.

As far as the coin door. not sure.  This is the original this cab came with.  I can see it from examining the inside.  I still have the original wreslefest sticker that the factory puts on the back of the cab (manf. date, etc.)
