Hello everyone!

someone donated an old outrun cabinet to our school and some friends and i took it up on ourselves to restore it to former glory. the previous owner said it was working before he took it apart. after doing some minor fixes (like replacing the gear for the cabinet wheel) we were anxious to fire it up just to see it working. we got an old CRT tv, found the RGB ground and signal cables, connected them to a scart, plugged it in and waited. and waited. and waited. but nothing worked. we did get colors on the screen. You could even see some kind of text flashing around. the rest of the cabinet seems to work. the speakers in the chair play the tune and the chair reacts to steering movement. can anyone help me to try to figure out what we're doing worng? help will be much appreciated

The Out Run game uses a low resolution video signal that is likely not compatible with SCART.  (sorry North american here we don't have SCART here so I don't have more info to share about it.)

the signal output by the game is called "Standard Resolution" which is a 15khz signal. you will likely need to find an upscaler adapter (something like the GBS-8200) to convert the signal to something compatible with your monitor.

you can run 15k on scart but you need to add resistors to the colour and sync signals, also you need to send a 12v to switch the scart signal on - there are images of this you can search online
