System21/22 Emulation
« on: April 10, 2019, 12:25:58 pm »
So I recently was on a mission to get Starblade running on my sim/sit down cabinet.

Current Mame still runs the game rather poorly with choppy audio and slowdown on the dated PC I have setup.

However, I came across Mjolnir.

Starblade runs beautifully in this.  The only problem is, there is no real way to configure controls other than checking what the typical default controls are in a REAL mame setup, then using joytokey to communicate those controls for Mjolnir.

The typical Mame UI does not function in Mjolnir.

I HAVE tried copying cfg files from a Mame install to the Mjolnir directory, but it doesn't seem to effect much.

Has anyone worked on this emulation, or gotten things running well on an older PC using Mame as is?

Would appreciate any help!

System22 emulation in MAME is still imperfect but improved drastically maybe less than a year ago, it uses 4 cores though, and decently fast (works fine and smooth/fullspeed on mine, see sig)

If Molnir is faster on older PCs, maybe it's using hardware acceleration? (GPU) I don't know.

Yeah, I'm no where near those specs.  Not at the specific PC right now, but it's Core2Duo clocking at 2.8ghz?

This is the github for Mjolnir.

I downloaded the actual compiled emulator from Gameex's list of emulators.

I know there is probably not much interest in this.  It's just a bummer as it would be so nice to be able to configure this a little more.
