pictures of game rooms
« on: February 08, 2004, 11:28:00 am »
Hello,

I've been browsing this site for a while now, but finally registered on the boards.

I know there is a ton of pictures of everyone's projects in the example section,  but i'm reallly interested to see some pictures of entire gameroom setups.

These pics are a bit outdated (got new stuff since then, and they aren't in the same places anymore), but they should give you some ideas.

That is not me in that picture, that is Dave.

Not pictures, Dedicated Robocop (Dave's), Do! Run Run (imported from Japan, might be dedicated), Magical Spot cocktail, Turbo, Popeye, Gorf, two Defenders, and a Partridge in a pear tree.

Well, this is more like my play room!

Zeitgeist that Blue cabinet that has DataEast on the side.  It looks so much like the old Donkey Kong cabinets I used to play back in the day.  Is that what it was and someone converted to DE or is that just a typical cabinet of the day?

James,
You're right, the blue cab is a standard Nintendo cab that was used in Donkey Kong & Popeye etc.
It had been converted to a Data East Kid Nikki when I found it.
It had no board, back panel or wiring, a bad monitor, & moderate edge damage/plywood curl due to being left out in the rain.
I Haven't decided what I'll do with it once I get the cab back into shape.
I'll either MAME it or put a vs Super Mario Kit in it.

Menace,
Yup, The guy at the Sear's hardware store knows me by name.
I just built this workshop & I included the new tools in my budget.
With the money I saved doing all of the work myself I was able to afford just about every tool that I've been eyeing for the last several years.
Afterall what good is a workshop without lots of cool toys er tools ;D

Ok that's what I thought.  I saw one when I bought my cabinet and I told the guy it was a Donkey Kong with Nintendo blue on the side.

Heck it is one of the few games I would recognize.

My gameroom/garage (I own a townhome not a real house).  Its a tandum garage where its only wide enough for one car, but two can fit end to end.  The first half is where I setup my arcade.   ;D

My wife's cousin has one of those one car wide, two car deep garages.  When they bought their house they were told that it is called a "Franklin Garage".  I'm not sure why.

haven't you been to BYOBH : Build Your Own Bubble Hockey?

I second the accolades on the bubble hockey and gameroom in general.  In the south we are in serious need of basements...I got no room to do anything like what you guys are doing.

my gameroom lasted about a year and I didn't take any pictures.  now it's a nursery. which is cool, but it's no bubble hockey  :)

Hmmm I can see it now.  bmx grips on broom handles with hummel figurines holding plywood hockey sticks under a clear plastic tub from target.  i'm diggin it  ;D

sorry enough hijack.....I NEED MORE PICS OF GAMEROOMS!!!

I wonder if the board could have a gallery.  the car forums I visit have a members gallery section.  avs has the same for home theaters too.  just a thought

It's pretty sweet seeing other peoples set-ups. Gives me ideas for the future.

Check this guy's basement out. It might be the ultimate. I stumbled on it while visiting another site.

I bought that chexx brand new in the box.  Paid around $2300 w/shipping.  At the time, they were selling over $1000 on ebay, and I just figured, what the heck.  Plus, I sold some of my dot.com stock to buy it.  It was around Y2K   ;D

My basement needs a nickname, I'm thinking of like e-basement or something, because nearly everything was purchased online.  Ebay, happs, ultimarc, allposters.com.  Even the oak bar rail was purchased online (not the plywood and 2x4's)

Thanks for the compliments.

I have a video poker and a pachislo I have to take pictures of too.

Too funny I too found out about mame on that thread on avs forum.

I found out about mame around the second week in dec. I now have 4 video games. Two of them are going to be mame machines. This was only a kick in the pants to get motivated for the spring time project of building my gameroom in the basement.

I however have the games temporarily in my Lobby to my home theater. I have been collecting coin-op things since 97 (mostly gum, candy machines). I currently have approximately 50 gum/candy machines and some other cool items . You can see my rtro ?lobby/gameroom on my webpage:

Love your gameroom.
So, are those Playstation and Dreamcast cabinets?

Thanks.  And yup those are PS2 and DC cabs.  I built the Dreamcast one back in 1999.  But I'm still working on the Playstation2 cab control panel, I want real analog controls using the digital 49-ways that originally came with the cab...seems to be a never ending quest though.

I just found someone local who is selling a 29" japanese sit at cab I could make into another DC machine (using the $14.99 dreamcast I just picked up from electronics boutique).  These machines have rotateable monitors!  Way cool to play Ikaruga and Gunbird2 on.  ;D
